The COMPASS ONLINE is a quiz based competency assessment and verification system for Drilling and Completions personnel.
The system consists of several modules with multiple choice questions and true/false statements. The questions are developed by industry experts and focused on what should have been learned through experience – not at school. The quizzes were developed under the following guidelines:
- The questions need to be clear and easy to understand
- The answers should be non-disputable and not company or location specific
- A calculator or other aids should not be required
The competency assessment can be completed in two ways, either by online purchase of the modules or by contacting Protrust for special deals.
Modules
From a large and growing pool of questions, the quiz software is selecting a predetermined number of questions per module.
The current selection of modules are as follows:
Module 1: Drilling Equipment
This module is containing question related to drilling equipment, both rig equipment and tools from the service sector. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 2: Drilling General
This is the most comprehensive module containing question related to drilling engineering and operations of normal wells. There are easy and more complex questions covering a wide range of subjects like tubulars, drill bits, stuck pipe prevention, formation issues etc. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 3: Well Control
This module contains questions related to Well Control and intended for drilling engineers and operations personnel. Most questions are different from the normal IWCF/IADC exam questions as they are non ambiguous and non disputable. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 4: Fluids
This module contains questions related to drilling and completions fluids. Most of the questions are intended for drilling and completions engineers but there are also more complex questions intended for fluid specialists. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 5: Cement
This module contains questions related to cementing oil and gas wells. Most questions are intended for drilling engineers but some questions are more complex and intended for cementing specialists. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 6: Barriers and Well Integrity
This module contains question specific to Barriers and Well Integrity and intended for drilling and completions engineers, well integrity personnel and operational staff. There is a mix of easy and more complex questions. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 7: Completions
This module contain questions related to normal well completions (special completions like gravel packing and multi laterals are not included). The questions are intended for both drilling and completions engineers. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 8: ERD
This module contain question specific to Extended Reach Drilling, both planning and operations. The questions are intended for drilling engineers and operations staff involved in ERD projects. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 9: HPHT
This module contain question specific to High Pressure High Temperature wells. The questions are intended for drilling engineers and operations staff involved in HPHT projects. The quiz contains both multiple choice questions and True/False statements.
Module 10: Acronyms
This module contains acronyms that should be familiar to personnel involved in Drilling and Completions operations. The module is suited for all disciplines within drilling and completions. All acronyms have 4 possible answers.
How it works

Go to the Quiz page and purchase the COMPASS bundle

After check-out you will receive a mail with a link to the quizzes

The quizzes can be completed on a Tablet, Mobile or PC

There is a fixed time limit per quiz, no time to google the answers

1 point is awarded per correct answer, 0 points for incorrect answers

You cannot leave the tab where the quiz is

You cannot jump a question and go back

Payment covers only one attempt per module (you cannot restart the quiz)

Unanswered questions will be regarded as a fail

You do not need a calculator

Read the question and all answer options carefully before you make your choice

You will receive an email with your result after completion of each quiz

You will receive a report from Protrust with the result of all quizzes you completed

Any attempts to practice will be logged and mentioned on the assessment report
